Philadelphia University & Crefeld School Collaborate!

For the last couple of years Philadelphia University has offered a class to graduate students called "Green Design Build." This class has a philanthropic context where it aims to provide a sustainable attribute to an area which is in need of sustainability.

The Summer 2014 class has partnered with the Crefeld School of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, PA to design and build a Permaculture center on its campus. The Head of School had put together a list of items that he wanted incorporated into the design. The list included everything from an outdoor classroom to a half-pipe skateboard ramp.

At the beginning of the class in late May, Crefeld School, Chestnut Hill residents, and Philadelphia University students came together for a charrette to come up with design ideas and goals to bring to the school.
